The purpose of this course is to show you how you can optimise the use of your language skills, depending on your attitudes and preferences and the market opportunities. “Career using languages” is a 2 hour course where participants will have the opportunity to find out how to use their language skills. Translator, interpreter, or language tutor? These language specialists – for example - all use language skills, but in a different way depending on their personal attitudes. The range of careers requiring some language competence is constantly increasing, and during this course, participants will have the opportunity to examine a wide range of choices, with testimonials from experts and business people, and receive advice from them. Language qualifications and accreditations will be also presented. You will also look at your other skills and interests which are needed for a job, not just your language ability. Even specialist language jobs require many more skills than the ability to speak one or more foreign languages.
